Imposition 2012-Mr. Santorum, Really

Senator Santorum was doing his stump speech recently. He forgot part of it, I think, and it is pretty forgettable. He has been calling Mr. Romney the worst man Republicans could put forward on health care, what the Massachussetts thing and all.

This time, Mr. Santorum called Mr. Romney "the worst man" Republicans could put forward, without mentioning health care. Some esteemed members of the working press pounced on him, asking if he really meant Mr. Romney was the "worst man."

Mr. Santorum lost his cool, which makes me think the whole thing was planned and planted. Mr. Santorum then went way too far, demanding the reporter "stop lying." The handlers around Mr. Santorum started looking very uncomfortable, as his eyes bugged out and his shoulders hunched.

Mr. Santorum, the darling of the Religious Right, then used a very PG-13 rated Anglo-Saxon euphemism to express his disgust. He did not allow follow up questions.

Now, no Republican suffers from attacking the "liberal media," for asking embarrassing questions. Mr. Santorum is obviously exhausted and, so, showing the strains of the campaign. He got caught telling the truth about how he feels, which is the worst of political gaffes (honesty). He blew up. He yelled and he cursed.

Mr. Santorum, take a day off, listen to your handlers and stick to your message. Mr. Romney does not get people fired up. Don't do him the favor of getting people fired up for him.

You have a chance to make a difference, Mr. Santorum. Don't blow up and blow your chance.
