Preacher, Do Not Aim a Sermon…

…for you are a bad shot and will hit that at which you do not shoot.

A great, great old preacher told this to a few of us neophyte preacher boys back in the day. I had no idea what he meant at the time but I learned. You can think you are crafting a message for a few folks who “need it.” Then, you get up and fire it at them. The problem is, you hit the tender-hearted lady next to them.

So, I do not aim sermons. I am not looking to mash anyone, squash anyone, flip them over or spill them out. No, you cannot account for the person who takes all things personally. All you can do, preacher, is try to love the people and preach the Bible.
