Two Sermons For You

My last two posts have been sermons. Many of my readers are preachers. I have long promised some more sermons for you to use. Now you have two. Please use them.

I am writing a series on durable sin, the kind of ingrained, institutional sin that requires a prophetic voice if they are ever to change. Slavery was a durable sin. The civil rights movement of the 1950’s and 1960’s confronted other durable sins left over from actual slavery a hundred years later. Public acceptance of race hatred had to change. A prophetic voice had to be heard.

In the next few days I will try, as time and energy permit, to show how I arrived at this turning point. I have showed you the pie. Now I will show you I baked it.

You were never a fire and brimstone pompous arse and through all of the years you’ve searched for thoughtful ideas to convey your message. We may not always agree but I have always respected your effort to find a common cause and a steady theme. The pleasure has always been and remains mine. Stay frosty my friend.
